Our Meet The Team series continues with Rachel Vane-Stobbs
With capacity for up to 50 people, the Social Care Exchange is a vibrant resource centre, housing conference and meeting rooms, training rooms, exhibition spaces, breakout areas and serviced offices. The person at the forefront of marketing the Social Care Exchange is Communications Coordinator, Rachel Vane-Stobbs.
My role is really varied, I manage all the communication platforms for the Social Care Exchange, including the website, social media and marketing activities. I also interact with the numerous companies and individuals that use the facilities here, researching and writing articles on the many events that take place.
Providing support to facilities, I also help manage internal and external events, as well as representing the Social Care Exchange at networking events across the city. No two days are ever the same!
What is your background?
Having graduated from the University of York with a degree in Chemistry, I spent a year in Helsinki, Finland, in a research role before branching into teaching – working both in the UK and Hanoi, Vietnam.
I then moved to a career in marketing, working for an International School which was a great experience. I was part of the team managing digital marketing, event planning and hosting and I also promoted the school in person both internally and externally.
I started working at the Social Care Exchange in February this year, firstly in a support role, liaising with all the different teams.
I have found my degree in Chemistry contributes to my methodical and analytical approach and has really helped communicating with lots of different audiences here, often explaining complex subjects to a wide range of people.
What do you enjoy about your job?
It’s a really creative role, and I enjoy talking to lots of different people both across the organisation and externally. It’s fast paced and ever evolving!
What are your specialist skills?
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Adventurous, proactive and thoughtful
What events are you looking forward to at The Social Care Exchange in the upcoming year?
I’m looking forward to more networking, it provides an opportunity to meet local people and explain why the social care exchange was set up and what we are trying to achieve.
So far, it has been interesting to meet lots of motivated local business people who are trying to drive change in Lincoln.
What do you feel sets the Social Care Exchange building apart from other venues?
It offers fantastic facilities, a vibrant environment to work and network in and staff who are friendly and helpful.
