Learning Disability Community Event

On Monday 23rd April, between 6-7pm, the Social Care Exchange will be hosting an informal community event for anyone impacted by someone with a learning disability or special educational needs.

The event is a great opportunity to network with other parents and families in a similar situation, as well as meeting learning disability specialists.

Positive Behaviour Support expert Dawn Maplethorpe will be on hand to offer advice on challenging behaviours - including techniques to promote positive risk taking, different communication models and ways to expand an individual’s world by increasing contact with the local community.

Tim Beaumont, Visiting Officer from the Department of Work and Pensions will also be attending, to talk though general benefit advice and answer your questions on entitlements you may be eligible for as a carer.

This informal drop-in evening is open to anyone impacted by someone with learning disabilities - come along for a coffee and a chat, while finding out about more local support available.
