Carers’ Rights Day 2018

Caring for a family member or friend with complex needs, disabilities or illness can be a demanding, and sometimes isolating, role but you are not alone, there is a lot of support and advice available.

To mark Carers’ Rights Day today (Friday, November 30th) Carers FIRST Lincolnshire will be hosting a series of free events in Lincoln, Boston and Stamford. These events are aimed at anyone who is a carer and will include information, speakers and workshops. More information can be found here.

Charity Carers UK offers help and advice for carers on important topics such as finances, practical support, technology and equipment, relationships, health, employment and general support. It also campaigns on behalf of carers for things like free hospital parking, equal rights and fairer financial support. Read more here.

As many as one in 12 school-aged children could be carers for family members. The Young Carers in Schools (YCiS) initiative, run jointly by Carers Trust and The Children’s Society, aims to make it easier for schools to support young carers. For more information visit here.
